Agent Of Manager Says It Was ‘Right Decision’ Not To Sign With Chelsea

The agent of head coach Julian Nagelsmann, Volker Struth, has said that the 35-year-old made the ‘right decision’ in not signing for Chelsea [via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter].

Additionally, Struth also claimed that Chelsea were ‘quick to call’ Nagelsmann and said that the German was the Blues’ ‘first choice’ in their hunt for a new manager.

In Romano’s tweet, he quoted Struth, saying: “Can confirm that Chelsea were quick to call for Julian. He was their number 1 choice; I believe it would have happened if he wanted it. It was the right decision by Julian not to go there”.

Chelsea’s manager woes

Nagelsmann was initially lined up with a move to Chelsea after former head coach Graham Potter was sacked, following a disastrous tenure at the helm. Nevertheless, the move failed to materialise, with Nagelsmann now being courted by other high-profile clubs.

As such, Chelsea will now look to appoint former Tottenham Hotspur and PSG head coach Mauricio Pochettino – an announcement on his arrival is expected at any moment.

In the meantime, Chelsea have appointed club legend Frank Lampard until the end of the current season – suffice to say, Lampard has had a torrid time in his second managerial stint at the club.
