Chelsea forward Kai Havertz had one of his worst games in a Blues shirt during the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
After wasting an early chance, he constantly gave the ball away, whilst he was at fault for failing to clear his lines from the corner that led to the Gunners’ winning goal.
Unsurprisingly, supporters on Twitter did not hold back with their opinions about Havertz after the match:
About as useful as a dried out sharpie marker

Absolutely dreadful, off the pace, pointless

Bench that boy. He needs time out to reassess and reevaluate his role in this team. Not good enough.

We’ve made so many excuses for him. Needs to show/prove himself CONSISTENTLY now or sit on the Bench. That CL goal was 3 years ago

Havertz has dropped an absolutely STINKER. Walahi he’s playing against us.

Just bench Havertz. He has been sloppy for couple of games

Havertz has been terrible all season wants more time on the ball

I am fuming at this man, he’s so weak on the ball, dribbles into nothing, and can’t complete a forward pass to save his life.

Havertz was by no means the only poor performer. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mason Mount were just as disappointing with their contributions in the final third, but a lot more is expected of the German.
When he first arrived from Bayer Leverkusen for £72m in the summer of 2020, many believed the Blues had signed a talent that could go on to do great things. However, despite some standout moments (including the Champions League final), he has flattered to deceive and failed to justify his sizeable price tag.
