Conte Plotting Move For One Of Two Chelsea Fullbacks

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is keen on signing either Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The former Chelsea head coach is eyeing a deal for one of his former players, after opting against moving for Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian.

Both Alonso and Emerson were signed under Conte’s watch at Stamford Bridge, but it does appear unlikely that either will be leaving the Blues.

Inter believe Chelsea’s transfer ban will likely scupper any bid for the pair, with manager Frank Lampard having few other options in the first-team squad who could replace them.

Alonso was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid at the end of last season, but the Spaniard has subsequently stated that he is happy to stay in London.

Emerson, meanwhile, began to establish himself in Chelsea’s starting line up under Maurizio Sarri, and it will be interesting to see if he features as prominently under Lampard.
