Lukaku and Nainggolan Speak Out Over Future

Could Romelu Lukaku be set to return to Chelsea? The Belgian striker left west London two years and joined Everton for £28million, but the 23-year-old has openly expressed his desire to leave the club and play in the Champions League. We previously reported about Hazard talking up Lukaku’s future (click here to read) but no word was given from the man himself.

Many sports media outlets have reported that Lukaku is a target for Chelsea this summer, who want to add a striker to their roster – and the Belgian could now be the right man to finish off what he started at Stamford Bridge after a promising few years of football, and of course a blistering Euro 2016 campaign so far.

Lukaku’s agent Mino Raiola said this week that his client may well stay at Everton but admitted a ‘global club’ would be able to prise him away.

Lukaku hadn’t spoken out about his future since he made comments about wanting to play in the Champions League, but in an interview with Sky Sports the 23-year-old confirmed his agent was busy with enquiries.

When asked about a potential transfer, Lukaku said:

“It’s my agent who is dealing with that aspect. I’m just focused on Belgium, and the most important thing is helping my team.”

Chelsea are also said to be after Lukaku’s Belgian team-mate Nainggolan. The Roma midfielder has been impressive for both club and country in recent years, and could be rewarded with a big money move.

When quizzed on his future by Sky Sports, the central midfielder was giving nothing away:

“There is nothing at the moment.”

“I said I love where I’m playing so why not?” he said. “The Premier League is another good competition, but I think sometimes in life you need to make choices.”

“I don’t know what will be my future but I just can say that where I am I’m happy.”

It is highly likely that both players are on Chelsea’s radar and would push for moves to Stamford Bridge – however it is uncertain whether or not new boss Conte will fork out too much in order to get their services. One thing is for sure, the transfer stories regarding them both will become more clear after the Euros are over.
