Zouma And Alonso To Start, James And Hudson-Odoi To Miss Out: Chelsea’s Predicted XI To Face Brighton

The 7-1 win over Grimsby in the Carabao Cup midweek would have given Chelsea manager Frank Lampard a number of selection dilemmas ahead of the game against Brighton.

Reece James and Michy Batshuayi, in particular, impressed but Lampard is likely to go back to the team that only narrowly lost to league leaders Liverpool last time out.

In defence, with both Andreas Christensen and Emerson out injured, Marcos Alonso and Kurt Zouma will likely come into the starting line up with Fikayo Tomori and captain Cesar Azpilicueta keeping their places.

In midfield, the triumvirate of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante could be selected once more, although Lampard may opt to switch Mason Mount more centrally to give the team a more offensive line up at home versus the Seagulls.

In the front three, we will probably see the return of Tammy Abraham up front, along with Willian. Callum Hudson-Odoi is fit but the way Lampard was talking about the 18-year-old needing to improve after the Grimsby rout suggests he’ll be on the bench.

Pedro’s inclusion from the start on Wednesday indicates he will also be a substitute on Saturday, with Mount probably keeping his place out wide.
