WSL Weekend Roundup As Chelsea Go Top Of The League

During the latest group of fixtures in the WSL, Chelsea went top of the league as they beat local rivals Tottenham Hotspur by a score of 3-2 away from home.

It was a massive win for the Blues which saw their title dreams become ever more realistic. They made ground on their main title rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United, as both teams drew in their respective games.

Arsenal will feel aggrieved to have been forced into a stalemate with West Ham. The Gunners managed 21 shots, with nine on target – but none of them could find their way past Mackenzie Arnold in the Irons’ net. Ultimately, the game ended 0-0.

Meanwhile, Manchester United had the same scoreline as they took on Everton. The Red Devils shared Arsenal’s profligacy in front of goal – they failed to convert any of their 25 shots, with only four of them being on target.

A title outsider, Manchester City, picked up a win on Saturday. They travelled to Leicester, where a thoroughly dominant display saw them come away with a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Khadija Shaw and Chloe Kelly.

Elsewhere in the WSL, Liverpool got back to winning ways as they picked up a vital three points at home to Reading. It’s been a tough season for the Reds this year, as they’ve been flirting with a relegation battle – a win such as this will give them confidence that they can stay in the division.

Additionally, Brighton played out a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa as the Seagulls battled their way out of the relegation zone.
