Wright Phillips Names His “Perfect Replacement” For Lukaku Who Will Score “No Matter What Team He Plays In”

Ex-Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips believes that his former club should try and sign Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The Polish international is pushing for a move to Barcelona but both the Blues and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the striker if the switch to the Camp Nou collapses. Wright-Phillips thinks Thomas Tuchel would have the ultimate goalscorer on his hands if he managed to secure Lewandowski’s signature this summer:

“With Robert Lewandowski, he would be the perfect replacement for Romelu Lukaku if Lukaku does leave. No matter what team he plays in, he always scores goals. Chelsea would just have to make sure they play to his strengths.”

A deal for Lewandowski does seem like a long shot at the moment but, after effectively burning his bridges at Bayern, the forward is at risk of being left in limbo if Barca don’t come through with the funds required to sign him.

If he is left hanging by the La Liga club, there is a possibility that a team like Chelsea could swoop in, so we shall see how the situation develops in the coming weeks.
