‘Wow, If This Happens, It’s Great’ ‘Fake News’ Fans Discuss Reports That Chelsea Have Submitted 85M Bid

Chelsea were prepared to offer €100m (£85m) for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

The German reporter, who is hit and miss when it comes to accuracy, claims that the Blues’ approach was knocked back by Juve, who are not willing to discuss selling the Italian international:

Unsurprisingly this story has got many supporters talking on Twitter, with many dismissing Falk’s report as incorrect:

It wouldn’t make any sense if Chelsea were prepared to pay that much for Chiesa. The Blues already have a wealth of talent in wide areas, including the likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

On top of that, it is thought that the London club’s transfer budget will be devoted to signing Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, who is valued at around €175m (£150m). It seems pretty far-fetched that owner Roman Abramovich would be willing to spend £208m on the pair.
