Chelsea are still interested in snapping up West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to Goal‘s Chelsea correspondent Nizaar Kinsella.
With the focus currently on signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, there have been question marks over whether the Blues would also have the funds to sign the Hammers star.
However, it seems Rice is very much part of the club’s summer transfer plans and supporters on Twitter are hoping that Frank Lampard’s side can get the deal over the line:
Let’s hope so, would be a massive signing

I didnt think much of him beginning of the season but it’s evident we need him in the team. He needs to come back to Chelsea.

It won’t be easy to secure the services of the England international with reports suggesting that West Ham have slapped a £65m price tag on the 21-year-old.
Rice has just two seasons of experience in the first team and Chelsea will need to consider very carefully if he is worth the outlay while also balancing the fact that Manchester United may well still place a bid for the starlet.
Lampard is said to be planning to use him in central defence, which would make such a sizeable purchase an even bigger risk, but there is no doubt that he is a very talented player.
