Chelsea have had a £40m offer turned down for Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon, according to multiple reports in the English media.
The Toffees are believed to have slapped a £50m price tag on the 21-year-old, who is comfortable playing as either a no.10 or a winger.
While many supporters on Twitter feel Gordon is a talented player, some don’t think the Blues should consider meeting Everton’s valuation:
Would be a great signing 👍🏾

Good for system because he presses a lot but not worth 40m would be happy for 25-30 max

Good one for the future and for now if needed

@ChelseaFC don’t try it. We need fast, physical and experienced up front. Either you’re going for Zaha or Toney. Otherwise, just rest.

Gordon does seem like a good fit for Thomas Tuchel’s style of play. Not only does he work hard off the ball, but he is very capable of beating opponents in one-on-one battles.
His lack of experience does count against him, so fans who feel Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha would be a better option, do have a strong argument, but Gordon does have great potential.
If he does arrive at Stamford Bridge, though, it would raise more questions about the future of Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi; both of whom are seemingly outside Tuchel’s plans.
