Wolfsburg Close To Signing Chelsea’s De Bruyne

Belgium international, Kevin De Bruyne spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen where his impressive performances caught the eye and forced Mourinho to give him a chance at Stamford Bridge this season.

Having signed for Chelsea two years ago, it was only this season that the Belgian got a chance to impress after being loaned out to further his development. However, it has not quite worked out for the 22-year-old under the former Real Madrid manager and it seems likely that he will move on given the number of similar players Mourinho has at his disposal.

According to Yahoo! Eurosport, De Bruyne is set to return to Germany with Wolfsburg very near to agreeing a deal with the reigning Europa League champions. Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs was quoted as saying “We cannot confirm the transfer right now, but we are close to an agreement with Chelsea. There are no points (in the proposed contract) left which we might not be able to solve.”

The report suggests that a £18 million deal has been mooted between both clubs for De Bruyne, who has featured in just three league games for the Blues this season. Although Chelsea were initially reluctant to part with the winger at least on a permanent basis, it seems that Wolfsburg will thrash out an agreement that will satisfy Chelsea to part with De Bruyne.
