Willian Speaks Out On His Chelsea Future Following Exit Talk

Chelsea winger Willian has said he will think about his future more after he has finished playing for Brazil in the Copa America.

The 30-year-old has just one year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge and has reportedly been subject to bids from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this summer.

In an interview with Yahoo Esportes, Willian was asked if a move to China could be in the pipeline and he replied:

“There are so many things, speculations. We do not really know what’s true, but my focus is on the Brazilian National Team, the Copa America and when I finish here, God willing with the title, we think about those situations.”

When he was then pressed on whether he would turn to Brazil in the future to play for his former side Corinthians, the winger revealed that he wants to remain in Europe:

“I always showed great affection for Corinthians. I have great respect for Corinthians, the people I know, and they are still at the club. Today, I do not have that thought.”

“My thinking is to continue in Europe, but the future we never know what can happen. My affection for Corinthians is really great.”

Whether that means staying at Chelsea or moving to Spain, it remains to be seen. An agreement between Willian and the Blues over a new deal is not believed to be close so a departure is possible.

Even so, allowing another winger to leave this summer, while there is a transfer ban in place, would certainly not be ideal.
