Will This Be Chelsea’s Next World Class Transfer?

Chelsea fans will be delighted to know Conte has his sights set on none other than Chilean international Arturo Vidal. Even though the midfielder will be turning 31 in May, he would still have a lot to offer to the Blues.

This is not the first time this rumor has been headline transfer news. The Italian boss has been eying Vidal for quite a while and maybe now is the time to make the final assault on the man who would enhance any midfield next to Kante and Bakayoko.  Of course over time Vidal has also been linked with Manchester United under LVG and other rivals like Arsenal and Manchester City as his quality has a lot of admirers.

According to the Daily Star, contact has already been made. It’s all about context nowadays as transfers seem to be creating a domino-like effect throughout the top 20 clubs in the world.

The context here has been tweeted by several people on Twitter and it involves Schalke’s Leon Goretzka who will end his contract with the current club at the end of the season. If Bayern do sign a pre-agreement or actually sign the German youngster, it is very likely that Vidal will be for sale.

Honestly, I think everyone would be happy if all Conte signs in 2018 is Vidal. The team looks extremely tight right now and maybe, aside from a right-back, there’s not much that needs to be done to improve.

The Chilean is a beast in the middle of the pitch and can deal contend with the best midfielders in the world on his day. The question is whether he is the missing piece between Bakayoko and Kante or is a fit Danny Drinkwater enough.

There’s a downside to all of this though. Apparently the transfer will not be completed this January. Even though Goretzka might sign an agreement with Bayern, he will most likely spend the rest of the season at Schalke. This in turn means Bayern will not let Vidal go but again, even if Conte secures a 31-year-old Arturo Vidal in the summer, it will be a another upgrade to Chelsea’s squad.
