Will Hiddink Give These 3 Youngsters A Chance?

Will Hiddink Give These 3 Youngsters A Chance?

This is a decent season to use for experimenting purposes. The title is already gone and all that is left is to get ready for next season and try to win the remaining trophies Chelsea can compete for. Relegation is out of the question and a place in the finals of European Competition is somewhat of a stretch. With that in mind, Hiddink could use this season to build something for the seasons to come. This could involve bringing back youngsters who were sent on loan to grow. Giving them time on the pitch with big names such as Willian, Hazard, Terry and others could make a world of difference in the way the youngsters develop. Apparently the three who will be returning did not do good while apart from Stamford Bridge. Playing for Chelsea for a couple of months will help both the club and players figure out if there is any chance of a collaboration working out. Here are the three who may well be returning from loan this January:

  1. Patrick Bamford – out of the three he has the biggest chance to stay mostly because of his role on the pitch. According to the BBC, the 22-year-old striker who has failed to adapt at Selhurst Park has announced that he is not going to stay with Crystal Palace until May as first expected and that he will return to Stamford Bridge this winter. Bamford’s career up until now is very confusing. He was Player of the Year in the Championship last season but got only 2 hours-worth of playing time this season. With rumors that Remy and Falcao will be leaving, he might be given a chance to fill in for Costa every once in a while.
  2. Islam Feruz – the 20-year-old attacker has not adapted to the Scottish league. Hibernian will have to let him leave as it is stipulated in his loan contract that if he does not get featured in a certain number of games he is free to go. Currently Chelsea do not have a player of his profile. He is a second striker with fast feet and good skill on the ball. Not sure if Hiddink is going to keep him around given the fact that he only made 6 appearances for his current club and that he hasn’t proved himself in the past either.
  3. Jordan Houghton – another 20-year-old who lost contact with his current club, this defensive midfielder will be cutting his loan deal short. Gillingham is willing to let him leave as he did not make the lot during the last two games. His position could determine Hiddink to give him one chance this January before deciding if he will stay or go.

Bamford has the biggest chance of making a couple of appearances for Chelsea. The others are more likely to leave, even though it would be nice to see some home-grown players on the pitch.
