Will Chelsea Pull Off This Sweet Signing Before The Deadline?

The transfer window closes on the 31st of January and Chelsea haven’t made any significant incoming transfers as yet. They did sell Oscar and Bamford which brought a profit of almost £60million to the club. None of that money has been sent elsewhere but there is still hope. The biggest concern Conte needs to address is what happens when either Moses or Marcos Alonso need to rest. It is true that this Saturday, the 3-4-3 he displayed works great but he may need to add some depth now that the Blues are closing in on the Premier League title.

There have been many rumors linking Chelsea to wingers, full-backs and right or left midfielders but none have turned out to mean anything so far. With such a short time left until the end of the January transfer window, it looks like there’s one more player who could join the Blues as a back-up for Marcos Alonso. According to the Daily Express, Conte is trying to get a good deal on Juventus target Sead Kolasinac. The 23-year-old left-back who chose to represent Bosnia over Germany on an international level is in his last months of contract with no rumors of negotiations with current club Schalke. It is obvious that the German side will want to sell. If Kolasinac leaves as a free agent, no profit will be made. The problem is that usually, free agents get a lot more money than players who still have a contract. It is kind of a compensation for not joining someone else and also for sparing the interested club the fees requested by the other parties.

The 23-year-old looks like a good fit for Chelsea. He managed 2 goals and 6 assists in 18 games this season which is a lot coming from a left-back in a 4-4-2 formation. Imagine what he could do in Conte’s current 3-5-2 which gives the wing-backs a lot more offensive responsibility. As mentioned before, all that needs to be done, if Chelsea really do want Kolasinac is to convince the player. Schalke will surely sell and do so at a lower price than they would normally sell.
