Why Conte must resist transfer approaches for two key men at all costs despite player discontent

Am I the only Chelsea fan who believes that Jose Mourinho is intent on doing everything he can to break up out title winning squad?

The move for Matic is well documented and arguably has to go down as one of the worst pieces of transfer business that the club has ever done, but is the Serb the first of many Blues that Jose is trying to entice to Old Trafford?

I personally think two Brazilians are next on that list and Conte must do everything in his powers to prevent this from happening.

The Luiz fallout is out in the open and everyone is fully aware of it; however, the cold shoulder Willian appears to be getting on a weekly basis is a sign that not all is well at Stamford Bridge. Following his brace and man of the match performance in the Champions League failed to garner any real genuine praise from Conte – something that was out of character from the Italian boss. Maybe Willian is supportive behind the scenes of his fellow countryman that is getting under the nose of the boss perhaps?

Willian has always been a consistent performer for the club. In truth in Mourinho’s title defence, it was the Brazilian who was one of few bright lights that shone that season, where Jose and the majority of the Chelsea support respected his commitment to the cause.

He has unfortunately become a peripheral figure in Conte’s starting lineup; however, his importance to the squad must ensure that we look to retain him, even though Mourinho has on more than one occasion expressed his admiration for the player.

In this weekend’s high profile match against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, Willian again emphasised his value when he scored the equaliser at Anfield with 5 minutes left after Chelsea old-boy Mo Salah had put Liverpool in to the lead and by the looks of it secured all 3 points for the Merseysiders.

The game looked lost for Chelsea until Willian who had only been on the field for 2 minutes slotted home the Chelsea goal for a share of the points.

Reports in the paper this week suggested that David Luiz remains a top target for Mourinho when the January window opens – as he looks to strengthen his injury depleted defence.

I truly believe that the relationship between Conte and Luiz is at the point of no return, although I obviously hope this can be resolved.

I just wonder how both players will react if Mourinho makes it known of his interest to bring them to Old Trafford, given they both appear unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

My fear is they would both – like Matic did – jump at the move although if the club had any sense they will resist all attempts otherwise it will be hard not to believe that we have done everything this season to hand United the title by giving them three of our most influential squad months in the matter of months.
