Why Chelsea Should Sign This 10-Goal Wonderkid Striker – Opinion

As things stand, Evan Ferguson is one of the most promising strikers in world football. With ten goals to his name across 23 appearances this season, he is taking the Premier League by storm – Chelsea are in need of a striker and they could do far worse than the young Irishman.

With Levi Colwill already at Brighton on loan from Chelsea, the Blues could even potentially do a swap deal if they choose to do so. It would be a shame to lose such a talented youngster in Colwill, but Chelsea already have plenty of talented centre-halves (even if the majority of them have underperformed in the current campaign).

Additionally, Ferguson will not come cheap. He has recently signed a new long-term deal with the Seagulls – but as we’ve seen in the two most recent transfer windows, money appears to be no concern for Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

On top of this, Boehly is also keen on signing young, exciting talents – in this sense, Ferguson fits the bill perfectly. Chelsea’s transfer policy has been much maligned over the past few months – bringing the Bettystown native on board could convince fans and pundits otherwise.

Who else is in the hunt for Evan Ferguson?

If Chelsea wish to bring Ferguson to Stamford Bridge, they will need to fend off interest from several other clubs in the Premier League. At the time of writing, the club most heavily linked with him is Manchester United – currently, this appears to be his next destination. Also, Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested in snapping up Ferguson

A handful of reputable clubs from abroad have also registered an interest in the 18-year-old. AS Roma and Bayern Munich are among them – should he wish to move outside of the Premier League, he would likely end up at one of these two clubs.
