Who Will Replace Departing Chelsea Keeper?

Once again fans will have to deal with the fact that no club can have two great keepers around at the same time. If both are wanting to play and both are top-notch, one will leave eventually. According to Metro, Courtois is looking like he will be sticking around for the long term while Begovic is rumoured to be wanting to leave. It was only a matter of time though as the Serbian was well aware of his status given the 1st to be pushed aside by Conte’s current number one was none other than legend Petr Cech.

Begovic has been linked to several clubs this winter but Bournemouth looked like the most serious apparently. No fee has been yet speculated but it will probably be under £7million which is about what the Blues paid when signing the 29-year-old from Stoke. Despite spending just over a year at Stamford Bridge, Begovic made his mark on the team and always rose to expectations. Unfortunately form him, Courtois is too good and also not interested in leaving regardless of what the press has been saying lately.

The Serbian international has already had contact with Bournemouth back in 2007 when he made 8 appearances for the Cherries. Begovic will probably become a team regular right from the beginning of his contract.

The big question right now is who will replace him? Will Eduardo be enough and will Conte bring in a youngster to have as a 3rd option? The Portuguese is at peace with the fact that he is a back-up and a young player would never expect to take Courtois’ place. There was some speculation regarding the transfer of Gianluigi Donnaruma but it is quite hard to believe he will drop his team regular status to join the Blues. If Courtois does decide to return to Spain, the young Italian would be the perfect choice.
