In a recent interview, prominent Twitter ITK, The Secret Scout, claimed that Chelsea have plans to promote centre-back Levi Colwill to the first-team setup.

Asked about potential summer transfer targets at centre-half, the scout instead responded by stating he believes the 17-year-old will be included in matchday squads at senior level next season:

“Not that I know of [any new centre-back targets]. But there are plans to integrate Levi Colwill as natural left CB more. There are a few clubs are interested in him.”

So what do we know about Colwill? The defender has been at the Blues for almost ten years already, starting out in the Under 8s before progressing through the ranks of the youth teams.

The centre-half played for the Under 18s last season, making a number of appearances in the UEFA Youth League, and he also got some game time for the Under 23s before an injury ended his campaign early. He has subsequently established himself as a regular in the development squad, as well as featuring in the EFL Trophy this season.

Colwill is already an England Under 17 international, he is left-footed and his current deal expires at the end of 2021/22 campaign. To persuade him to snub interest from elsewhere and sign a new deal, giving him first-team action soon seems like a good move by the club.
