Chelsea are stepping up their interest in Gambian Under 20 international striker Adama Bojang, according to reports in the UK.
The 18-year-old was already on the club’s radar before the Under 20 World Cup but his performances in Argentina are expected to lead the Blues into making an offer.
Bojang, whose nickname is the “Gambian Hurricane” due to his power and pace, is also attracting the attention from other teams, so Chelsea may have to move quickly in order to secure his signature.

The 18-year-old plays for Steve Biko FC in his homeland. When he made his debut they were in the second division.
Bojang helped them to promotion a couple of years ago and he scored his first hat-trick in Gambia’s top flight the following season.
Despite his young age, the striker is 6ft 3, meaning he has an imposing presence on the pitch.
His performances were already getting noticed before he was called up for international duty.
While his grandfather, Abdoulie Bojang, is in charge of Gambia’s U20 team, Adama was there on merit when he was selected in the squad for the Under 20 AFCON.
The forward ended up being second top goalscorer at the tournament, helping his country to the final, where they lost to Senegal.
Bojang scored three times versus South Sudan in the quarter-final and he then slotted home the winner in a famous victory against Nigeria in the semi-final.
Unsurprisingly, he was named in the team of the tournament for his exploits
After his breakthrough at the Under 2o African Cup of Nations, the forward has continued to shine at youth level.
Finishing runners-up at the tournament meant Gambia qualified for the Under 20 World Cup, which got underway last weekend.
Bojang scored a brace for his country in their opening game against Honduras on Monday.
The striker bagged his first just 30 seconds into the match before scoring his second to secure a 2-1 victory.
Due to Brexit, the rules on young players being brought in from abroad are rather strict.
Although Chelsea can sign Bojang as he is 18 years of age, he is not expected to qualify for a visa.
Experience in terms of continental tournaments at club level, as well as senior international appearances, count towards the points needed to get a permit.
Unfortunately, Bojang won’t be eligible at this time so, like with Andrey Santos, the intention will be to send him out on loan immediately after he signs.
