Which Blue Will Have The Final Laugh On Sunday?

The deep blue of London are set to face off against the sky blue of Manchester in this game week’s super showdown on Sunday. The two teams, bankrolled by the billions of their respective owners made their mark in the transfer window by splashing in excess of £50 million each and bringing in big money players.

Previously, it was just the team from Stamford Bridge who were known to spend big sums of money on players. It all began after billionaire Russian Roman Abramovich bought the club and pumped in his money to overturn the fortunes of Chelsea. Soon after, big names like Andrey Shevchenko, Adrian Mutu, Deco and lately Fernando Torres and Eden Hazard arrived at the club.

Later on, Manchester City were purchased by Sheikh Mansour, which saw Arab money flow into the lesser-known outfit from Manchester, who were always under the shadow of their glorious neighbors Manchester United. With the aim of overthrowing their rivals off their perch, City themselves stamped their authority which saw a flurry of big names arrive at the Ethiad Stadium.

Starting from Robinho, players like Carlos Tevez, David Silva and Sergio Aguero donned the light blue jersey, and managed to carve out a place for themselves at the top rungs of English football.

Chelsea and City have both maintained their tradition of flashing their millions and luring players. Chelsea’s summer business saw the likes of Andre Schurrle and Willian among others join their ranks, while City too have gone overboard by bringing in the likes of Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic, Alvaro Negredo and Fernandinho, reports Metro.

With the stage set for these two financial powerhouses to clash, it will be exciting to watch which of them will prevail over the other in this battle. Chelsea sit in 2nd place, closely trailed by City in 3rd. Both are on an upturn in terms of league form, and this tie could not have come at a better time, with both of them fresh and confident following their win in their European competition.
