Chelsea head to the South Coast for an FA Cup match against Brighton on Saturday night, looking to progress to the fifth round.
The Blues won 2-1 against West Ham in their last match in the Premier League, which left them fourth in the table, 13 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Enzo Maresca‘s side went 1-0 down in the game after Jarrod Bowen scored the opener, however, they came back thanks to a goal from Pedro Neto. Aaron Wan-Bissaka then scored an own goal to give Chelsea all three points.
They face a Brighton side who come off a humiliating 7-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest. It was the Seagulls’ second loss in a row, and they will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
Chelsea have a few injury problems too, as Nicolas Jackson will now miss the game due to a minor hamstring injury that he suffered against the Hammers. Click here to see our predicted XI for the game on Saturday.
Furthermore, Marc Guiu, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana will all miss the game too. Brighton could be without up to nine players for the game, including Carlos Baleba and Pervis Estupinian who are both in doubt.
Chelsea made cautious favourites against Brighton
The Blues have the better team on paper, and are in better form than Fabian Hurzeler’s side, something that is reflected in the bookmakers’ odds.
According to Oddschecker, Chelsea are 13/10 favourites, which gives them a 43/5% chance to win the game. Meanwhile, Brighton are backed at 2/1 (33.3%), and a draw is backed at 14/5 (26.3%), which would take the game to penalties.
We predict a 2-1 win for the Blues with Christopher Nkunku scoring both goals, as he will likely replace Jackson up front.
Where to watch the Blues’ trip to Brighton
The game kicks off at 8 pm at the Amex Stadium on Saturday 8 February, and will be available for broadcast on ITV4 and ITVX.
Highlights will be posted to the ITV Sport YouTube channel following the game.
