What’s Next In The Wayne Rooney Saga?

The news of Rooney’s discontent at Old Trafford has been ubiquitous for several weeks now. Since then, there has been constant speculation as to where the striker will be headed for next season. The names of Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain have been doing the rounds in the English press since the news of Rooney’s desire to quit the English champions broke out. However, nothing concrete has developed since then and the speculations have failed to take any shape whatsoever.

It was being leaked in top circles that the 27-year old was angling towards a move within England itself as he was not keen to uproot his young family out of the country. That left Chelsea or Arsenal as the most likely destinations for Rooney. Both the deals were being touted as having realistic chances of materialising given both the clubs’ search for a new striker and their financial standing for this summer.

Things have been stirred up in the last couple of days since Mourinho was officially unveiled as Chelsea boss and faced the media for his first press conference since rejoining the Blues. Mourinho was back at doing what made him famous in the first place – playing mind games with the opposition team. He spoke about Rooney’s current situation and urged him to do what he thinks will be best for him and his future. Mourinho’s comments have reportedly unimpressed his United counterpart David Moyes, and DailyMail now report that the Red Devils have decided to not sell their prized asset to their domestic rival in an attempt to block his possible move to Chelsea, as they are not keen on seeing him return to Old Trafford to possibly haunt them in the blue of Chelsea.

With United seeming firm on this decision, where do you feel the England international will play his football next season? Or will he end up staying put at United against all odds?
