Chelsea did make an offer for Lille forward Victor Osimhen very recently, according to reports in the French media. An unnamed club was mentioned as having placed a bid of €85m (£75m) for the Nigerian international.
However, while the transfer amount is believed to have been exaggerated, it is said there was a formal approach from the Blues for the 21-year-old. Supporters on Twitter are hoping a deal will be concluded:

There is no doubt that Blues boss Frank Lampard is very keen to add firepower to his attack when the transfer window reopens.
Stronger competition for Tammy Abraham is needed, with the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud having failed to impress for the most part this season.
Napoli’s Dries Mertens has been touted as a potential cheap alternative but it seems the London club are going all out for Osimhen instead. The Nigerian has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, and it remains to be seen whether other clubs will enter the running for the player.
