Werner’s First Words As Chelsea Confirm When He Will Join Up With His New Teammates

Chelsea have revealed that new signing Timo Werner will link up with his new teammates in July after the Blues reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign the German international.

The 24-year-old’s last game is against Augsburg on June 26th and while it is still not known when the transfer window will officially open, he will be at the Cobham Training centre next month. It means he will not be participating when Leipzig play their Champions League quarter-final in August.

Werner has paid tribute to his former club but he says he is looking forward to joining Chelsea as he looks to embark on a new chapter of his career:

“I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club. I, of course, want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart.”

“I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”

The German has been in prolific form this season, scoring an impressive 32 goals in 43 games for Leipzig in all competitions. He had attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United but the Blues managed to beat their Premier League rivals to his signature.
