‘We Should Bite Their Hand Off’ ‘Just Pay The 53m’ Fans On Social Media React As Chelsea Consider Hijacking PL Rival’s Deal

Chelsea are considering muscling in on Liverpool’s attempts to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, according to reports in the English media.

The Reds are said to be hesitating on triggering the German’s £53m release clause, which is due to expire on June 15th. It will be lowered to only £36m in a year’s time and that has led to the Merseyside club reconsidering their offer for the player.

Supporters on Twitter think Chelsea should take advantage of the situation and hijack the deal:

Werner has already expressed his interest in playing under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool so Blues boss Frank Lampard would have some persuading to do to change his mind.

Were the Reds to pull out of the deal, though, the opportunity to sign a player for £53m, who has scored 31 goals in all competitions this season, would likely to be too good to turn down, even in the current financial climate.
