Chelsea’s Kai Havertz and Tammy Abraham seemed to strike up an instant connection in the 6-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup last night.
It was the first time that the two had played with each other but Abraham was on hand to provide assists for two of Havertz’s goals as the German international got himself a hat-trick. The pair had a hand in five of the six goals on the night and fans on Twitter are calling for them to play against West Brom on Saturday:
We need them to start at West Brom, Werner at LW

Great performance from Tammy, unselfish and great pressing. Made his own goal.

I tell you. I just loved it. Especially the chemistry and the selflessness of Tammy Abraham. It was just a joy to see.

It’s rare that two players develop an understanding almost instantaneously and, while it was against lower league opposition, it may well have convinced manager Frank Lampard to start Abraham at the Hawthorns this weekend.
Considering Christian Pulisic still recovering his fitness, Timo Werner could play from the left-hand side, with Abraham upfront and Havertz in the number 10 role. With Hakim Ziyech almost ready to return to play from the right flank, it has the makings of a very exciting frontline.
