“We Heard That…” Reliable Journalist Confirms Bayern Munich Wanted To Swap Lewandowski For Chelsea Star

Bayern Munich would have been very keen on swapping Robert Lewandowski for Chelsea forward Kai Havertz this summer, according to Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau.

The Bundesliga champions are big fans of the German international but Lewandowski’s determination to join Barcelona scuppered any talks about a potential part-exchange:

“We heard that Bayern would have preferred to put Lewandowski at Chelsea [in order] to bring Havertz to Munich.”

Lewandowski had been on Chelsea’s radar for a while, although it had been apparent for some time that the Polish international had made moving to Barca a priority.

In terms of Havertz, Bayern are expected to revisit the situation next year, although it is believed that the 23-year-old is just one of a number of options the German side are looking at.

RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and even Tottenham’s Harry Kane are also being considered, but Havertz remains near the top of their list.

If the forward has a strong season then the Blues wouldn’t countenance a sale but we shall see how things develop over the coming months.
