“We Have To Consider The Possibility” Tuchel Admits Chelsea Star Is Heading For The Exit Door

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that the Blues are preparing for the “possibility” that Andreas Christensen will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

It has been reported by numerous sources that Barcelona are closing in on an agreement with the player, and Tuchel admits that, while he is keen for the defender to remain at Stamford Bridge, the likelihood of him staying isn’t very high:

“Well it’s in doubt, no? We hear the rumours and the situation with Andreas is also since many weeks clear and we are not happy about it because I personally and club representatives we think that it’s best for him to stay and we rely heavily on him.”

“He has not signed yet and you cannot not communicate. This is also a signal to us and communication from his side is that he did not sign until now so we have to consider the possibility that he leaves us. Will we like it? No. Will we live with it? Yes. Things are not personal. Never, never personal. But yeah, this can happen. I have no further information. No information at all.”

It’s been clear for a while that talks between Christensen and the club have stalled. It has been claimed that the Dane had initially agreed a contract extension with Chelsea, only to renege on the deal when he moved agents.

With just three months left on his contract, it seems very unlikely that there will be any sort of breakthrough. Christensen is not the only player in that situation either, with Antonio Rudiger and captain Cesar Azpilicueta still to put pen to paper, and you have to say there is a real risk of all three players moving on.
