Bayern Munich have won the race for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano with the Bundesliga champions having revealed they have an agreement to sign the Frenchman in the summer.
Chelsea and Liverpool were also in the running for the 22-year-old, with Manchester United having also been linked, but it appears the centre-back will make the €42.5m (£37m) switch to the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.
Most supporters on Twitter are not disappointed in missing out on Upamecano with some feeling the Blues already having some decent young defenders in the squad:

It will be a blow to Chelsea’s summer plans but the London club are also believed to be considering other options, including Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane.
Reports in Spain suggest that the 27-year-old could be available for around €50m (£44m), which would make him only slightly more expensive than Upamecano. Considering the World Cup winner has more experience, it could prove to be the better deal.
