Chelsea have not cooled their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde despite failing to sign the Frenchman before the transfer deadline last night, according to reports in England.
With four centre-backs (Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger) all having contracts that expire next summer, bringing in potential replacements will be a top priority.
It’s likely therefore that the Blues will make another attempt for Kounde during the January transfer window, and fans on Twitter would be very much behind the move:
We are so getting him in January

It is believed that Chelsea have been scouting Kounde for a number of years, while manager Thomas Tuchel is also said to be a big fan of the player after first seeing him play in France.
Both of those facts suggest that the 22-year-old will stay on the London club’s radar. The big obstacle will, of course, be the price tag with Sevilla standing firm on his €80m (£68m) release clause.
