Was Chelsea Mourinho’s Second Choice? Say It Is Not So

According to Yahoo! Eurosport, Chelsea’s current manager may have mislead fans into thinking returning to Stamford Bridge was his first choice. In his last months at Madrid, Mou spoke more than often about how his future is in the Premier League. He never gave out names but he was clearly looking to move to England. This information emerged after a Spanish journalist named Diego Torres published his book called “Prepared to Lose”. Here fans can find a detailed description the time Mourinho spent managing Real Madrid.

In his book, Torres describes Mou’s reaction to Ferguson’s decision to appoint Moyes as Man. United’s future manager. According to the Spanish journalist, the Portuguese coach had a hard time understanding why someone like Moyes gets to handle such an important club.

To be fair, Diego Torres has had a lot of issues with Mourinho over the years, being recognized as one of the manager’s biggest critics. In his book, the journalist also tells people about how Mou’s manager led his client to believe that he is the next in line to take charge of one of the biggest clubs in the world. That is why his disappointment was even bigger when he found out Moyes is Ferguson’s first choice.

Even though on paper, Mourinho was far superior to Moyes that did not matter as Ferguson directed his prererence to a manager that knows the English football better than anyone else.

Torres comes down hard on Chelsea’s manager as he speaks about how the Portuguese boss feared he will not be taken seriously anymore after failing to follow Ferguson. His state of despair was so deep because his actions clearly pointed to the fact that he was sure he will manage United. His public reactions that followed Moyes’s appointment, were merely attempts to keep his dignity after his tribute to Ferguson earlier in the year.  He also acted by taking into consideration his advisors who apparently told him to state that he knew all about what is going on in Manchester.
