Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock wants Chelsea to loan Ethan Ampadu to the Welsh club during the January transfer window.
The Bluebirds boss thinks the Blues should be allowing more of their young talent out on loan to Premier League clubs in order to aid their development as players:
“I think they should loan us him. Like Tammy Abraham, that was out this week. If they could get good players playing in the Premier League, that would benefit their development.”
“Managers now, you have such a short time span in your job, you don’t worry about kids. When you can spend £150 million, you’re not going to worry about leaving out kids.”
Ampadu has yet to feature under new head coach Maurizio Sarri but was a star for Wales in the 4-1 demolition of the Republic of Ireland during the international break.
The 18-year-old signed from Exeter City last summer and made his debut in the Carabao Cup win over Nottingham Forest last September. He made six more first-team appearances last campaign, with four starts in cup competitions.
However, this season, he has so far been restricted to games in Premier League 2 for the Under 23s. The 18-year-old may be keen to go out on loan in order to increase his experience of senior football. Whether that is with Cardiff or another club, we shall see.
