Members of Chelsea’s recruitment team are “very, very excited” about the future of new signing Andrey Santos, according to The Telegraph‘s Matt Law.

The 18-year-old joined from Vasco Da Gama for £11m last month but Law claims there are people at the club who believe he could turn out to be Blues’ top purchase from the eight deals that were made in January:

“Chelsea are very, very excited about Andrey Santos. There’s people in the club that think he’s been their best January Transfer.”

That is some claim to make by Law, considering the club also snapped up the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk, but scouts are clearly taken with Santos.

The midfielder has been in outstanding form for his country, having scored five goals in six appearances for Brazil at the South American Under 20 Championship.

Chelsea are trying to get a work permit for Santos but there are concerns that he may not have enough points to qualify. The teenager could well be loaned back to a team in Brazil who are playing in the Copa Libertadores. If he plays in the competition, it could be enough for him to secure a visa in England so we shall see how things play out.
