Update: Hazard praises new Chelsea signings

Chelsea’s newboys have been praised by star man Eden Hazard. The Blues spent just under £200m on new recruits during the summer, bringing in 6 new faces at the club.

Willy Caballero was brought in by Chelsea on a free transfer from Manchester City, and was joined by club record signing Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta.

Hazard says he has been impressed by the club’s new signings, and thinks that they will all help towards the Blues’ pursuit of glory this season.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, Hazard said: “It is important for Chelsea to have a strong bench because this season we have a lot of games.”

“We are fighting for the Premier League, League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League, so we need to be ready for all of that.”

“All of Chelsea’s signings are internationals. You need quality when you play for this club because we want to win a lot of things.”

“The more players we have the better it is for us. The bench was strong, it was good against Leicester.”

“There was Willian, [Michy] Batshuayi, me and so on – these kind of players can change the game. We all want to play and that’s good.”

“None of us want to sit on the bench, but we have a good team and the guys that started against Leicester deserved to play.”

“We had a strong team last season, but we have a strong team this season.”

So looking at the Chelsea new boys not only over the past 10 days including the 3 games played, but over the whole season so far, we can see Eden Hazard’s praise seems to have been more than justified.

Chelsea certainly look to have done some excellent business in the transfer window (yet again) as all their signings are contributing to the team (except the unlucky Drinkwater).

With Eden Hazard coming back to 100% match sharpness after his injury you know he is going to add significantly to his tally of 1 goal so far this season. Therefore the Blues look well able to make a serious defence of their title and also to do some damage in the Champions League plus the domestic Cup competitions.
