‘Unbelievably Overpriced’ ‘That’s Crazy’ Fans Shocked As Serie A Giants Reveal Eye Watering Price Tag For Chelsea Target

Juventus are demanding between €70m (£60m) and €80m (£69m) (plus Timo Werner) for Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports in the Italian media.

So far, Chelsea have only been willing to offer a maximum of €40m (£34m) to €45m (£39m), and there is currently a sizeable gap in valuations between the two clubs.

Supporters on Twitter believe the amount of cash that Juve are demanding for de Ligt is extortionate and they are very much hoping that an agreement can be reached for a much lower fee:

It appears as if Juventus want something which is commensurate to de Ligt’s €120m (£103m) release clause, but with the player having just two years left on his contract and the fact that he is keen on leaving, you would think they would be willing to compromise.

Werner is believed to be interested in moving in the other direction so a deal is a realistic possibility if the two sides are able to find common ground. Other teams (including Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool) have been mentioned as potential rivals for de Ligt but, at this stage, Chelsea are in pole position to secure the defender’s signature.
