Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach winger Jonas Hofmann this summer, according to reports in the English media.
It is believed the 28-year-old is one of six players that have been added to a shortlist of targets, with West Ham’s Declan Rice, Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni, Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Wolves’ Adama Traore also included.
Hofmann has been somewhat of a late developer, having only received his first senior cap for Germany back in October, but he is a utility player who can play a number of different positions.
For Gladbach this season, he has mostly been used as a winger on either flank, racking up eight goals and 13 assists in 33 appearances. However, he has also been used in central midfield, as a forward and, on occasion, a wingback over the past few years.
That flexibility would make him an ideal player for Tuchel, who is known for changing his system on a regular basis.
