‘Beware Of Chelsea’ – Blues Tipped To Hijack PL Rival’s £43M Transfer, Could Include 2 Players In Opening Bid

Chelsea could yet make an approach for AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Newcastle have made their move for the Italian international, who could cost between €50m (£43m) and €60m (£51.5m), but the Blues may still get involved in negotiations.

Gazzetta has warned the Magpies to “beware of Chelsea” who may have a couple of trump cards up their sleeve if they do open talks with Milan about signing Tonali.

It is believed that the Blues have already gone as far as speaking about a bid that would include “cash and players”. The Rossoneri are said to be interested in both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic, and they could be offered in a part-exchange deal.

Chelsea’s interest in Tonali is genuine but he is not the club’s transfer priority

Respected journalist David Ornstein has already reported that the London club do hold a genuine interest in the Italian international so Gazzetta‘s reporting is likely to be accurate.

However, a formal offer does seem to be unlikely at this stage, with the Blues expected to step up their attempts to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo first.

The Seagulls are, though, reportedly holding out for a sizeable fee, so there is a chance that Chelsea will have to fall back on their backup options.

Two other midfield targets are also being considered

In addition to Caicedo and Tonali, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia and Everton’s Andre Onana are also thought to be on the Blues’ radar.

Considering that both N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are leaving Stamford Bridge, there is an increasing likelihood that the club may end up trying to bring in two of these four. For the time being, it looks as if Caicedo will be the focus of the recruitment team before looking at other possibilities.
