Tragic News As Marco Van Ginkel Will Miss The Entire Season

The match against Swindon proved to be one of the most upsetting fixtures of the year for the Blues. Chelsea will have to find replacements for both of their midfielders after medical inquiries revealed Ramires and Van Ginkel suffered what could be serious injuries. According to the DailyMail, the Brazilian player only suffered from some hip and muscle pain which will probably be treated in less than a month. On the other hand, Chelsea’s youngster, Marko van Ginkel will miss out on the entire season. He suffered one of the most common but also one of the most complicated injuries a footballer can come across in his career. His cruciate ligament got torn which means he will be back no sooner than the summer of 2014. This period will include mostly recovery training as the actual intervention is not that complicated.

Unfortunately for Van Ginkel, this injury came when his career was just starting to take off. He was well adapted do Chelsea’s style and had managed two appearances since the beginning of the season. The 20 year old Dutchman would have been an important piece in Mourinho’s team which is obviously built on young players such as Oscar and Hazard.

Van Ginkel just transferred to London after spending 3 years playing for Vitesse. He managed 93 appearances in three seasons which says a lot considering he started his senior career at 17.

The Blue’s midfielder did not expect such a harsh diagnosis after his ten minutes spent playing against Swindon. He was clearly in pain and but all of Chelsea’s staff hoped things would not be so grim. After an MRI scan on Wednesday is seems that his anterior cruciate ligament is torn and that Mourinho will not be counting on him for the entire 2013-2014 season.

Chelsea will have a hard time replacing both Ramires and Van Ginkel who were two important players for Mourinho. Finding a solution is going to be complicated especially considering the fact that the Portuguese manager recently admitted he has not yet found the perfect starting eleven.
