Torres Will Apparently Remain Mourinho’s Number 1 Option Until The Summer

There have been a lot of rumors surrounding Stamford Bridge even before the winter transfer period began. The Blues’ lack of firepower was repeatedly pointed out even by Mourinho who, despite being disappointed with Torres, Demba Ba and Eto’o, insisted the squad will not undergo any changes.

According to Metro, the Portuguese manager still hopes his strikers will improve their stats which are not that impressive at this particular moment. Torres looks like the player Chelsea will depend on when it comes to scoring. The Spaniard who has been struggling to find his form is more relaxed now after Mourinho announced no transfers will take place this January although the boss has just resigned Matic from Benfica but he is a midfielder of course.

Liverpool’s former star who has failed to justify his outrageous transfer fee since moving to London, scored against Hull after a signature run and reminded fans why Abramovich insisted on signing him. It appears that Mourinho’s no transfer policy gave Torres a morale boost which might benefit both him and the team.

Despite reassuring the Spaniard that his spot is safe for now, Chelsea’s boss pointed out that even though it is great players like Hazard and Lampard score a lot of goals, the strikers should be the ones leading the statistics.

Torres who has a scoring rate of 1 goal every 4 matches will surely have to pick up the pace if he intends on staying with Chelsea after the end of the season. Things might look OK for now but some transfers will surely occur during the summer.
