Torres Signs For Milan, But Picks Atletico This Season

Fernando Torres has finally signed on the dotted line, ending his spell as a Chelsea player, and sealing a permanent move to Italian giants AC Milan, but the Spanish striker has been loaned out my Milan to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid till the end of next season, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea are on top of the Barclays Premier League, and have arguably been the best team in the league in all departments. Over last season, the club were struggling to score enough goals, and the striking department seemed weak despite players like Torres and Samuel Eto’o in the ranks. The decision to let Romelu Lukaku leave the club was bearing down on Jose Mourinho, but the manager did make the hard call and let the young striker leave despite Torres’ woes. The big move was on the cards, and Mourinho signed Diego Costa, who had finally won the Spanish league title with Atletico.

Torres was signed by Liverpool, his first English club, and the striker performed exceptionally for the Reds. With an impressive goal scoring rate, Torres was one of the most lethal strikers in the league, and Chelsea paid £50 million to buy him from Merseyside. Ever since, Torres has struggled to recapture his great form in front of goal, and even a season under Mourinho did not fix the problem. A loan deal at Milan also proved barren, and he will now play on loan at Atletico.
