Torres Says Goodbye To Chelsea Fans

Chelsea hope that Torres’s move to Milan will allow them to recover some of the money first invested in the Spaniard. The 30 year old is considered one of the Premier League’s biggest flops. He moved to Stamford Bridge for a whopping £50million but failed to live up to expectations. With a scoring rate worthy of a defensive midfielder, Torres ended up costing Chelsea £1million for each goal scored in his 172 appearances. He was given endless chances but never delivered despite being considered one of the best strikers in the Premier League during his Liverpool period.

As of this season Torres is Milan’s player. Even though he left on a loan deal, it is hard to believe the Blues will offer him a new contract once he returns from Italy. His contract with the Blues is set to expire at the same time as the loan deal expires which means Torres will not return to Stamford Bridge.

Fortunately for Chelsea, they managed to get some of the money they spent on Torres back. According to the Daily Mail, Milan paid the Blues £10million which allowed Mourinho to pay for French striker Loic Remy. QPR’s forward signed a 4 year contract which means he is not just a temporary solution.

Torres will be replacing Balotelli who joined Liverpool this summer. The 30 year old will have a lot more chances to preform regularly for Milan than he did for Chelsea. Currently the Italian side have one striker with a similar profile to that of the Spaniard which probably means he will play a lot more.
