Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui firmly believes that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has built a squad which is ready to win the Champions League this season.
The two clubs will face each other in the competition this evening and speaking ahead of the game, Lopetegui claimed that the Blues are very capable of going all the way in the tournament, particularly because of their strong attacking options:
“It is a major and exciting challenge against a team designed to win the Champions League. For me, offensively speaking, the team is the best in England, with great players.”
It’s a big claim from Lopetegui but it is an opinion that should be respected considering he used to manage Real Madrid and Spain. Lampard may not thank him too much, though, for bigging up his side’s chances in the Champions League.
The Chelsea boss will be mindful of keeping expectations in check, even though there is huge potential in the first team squad. He is expected to rest most of his key players this season, with both teams having already qualified for the knockout stages.
