Top Chelsea target responds to transfer rumours

Napoli and Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly has responded to rumours surrounding his future this summer, saying he will refuse to be drawn to speculation whilst he is still at the World Cup.

The centre-back is a top target of the Blues, who want to bolster their defence ahead of the new season.

The Senegalese was close to joining Chelsea back in 2016, but it seems their interest in the 27-year-old is more concrete now, especially if they are to be managed by former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

On Wednesday, Koulibaly was asked about rumours linking him with a stunning £88million move to Stamford Bridge.

But the defender insisted that he doesn’t listen to speculation, and says his only focus at the moment is the World Cup.

“€100m, if you tell my parents this figure I think they’ll have a good laugh!” he said.

“This price is what the market dictates, I don’t think about it, I just try and do my best on the pitch.

“I don’t think for a minute about my future because we’ve worked for three years to be here and if something may confuse me during the World Cup I will leave it aside because I want to be 100 per cent focused on the World Cup.

“We’ve worked a great deal, we’re very committed and we want to be in the last 16.

“As for the rest, we’ll see later and all my team-mates should trust me and each other so I don’t give a minute to my future right now.”
