Three Players Who Would Turn Chelsea Around

Chelsea are pretty close to drawing the line on a quite disappointing season. Knowing Abramovich, this summer will come with some important chances. There’s that and then there’s the fact that a new manager will be taking over, meaning that it is close to impossible not to see new players getting signed. The big question is, what is Chelsea missing right now? Are they in need of a new midfielder, a new defender, a new striker? Some would say the answer is “yes” for all three questions. Others would say that the Blues have a good lot and that there’s work to be done when it comes to their morale. The truth is probably somewhere down the middle. Some moves need to be made, but there’s no need to go over the top.

For example, one of the best signings Chelsea could make would be that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Sweden international has publically expressed his desire not to continue with PSG. It would be a pity to miss out on this guy even though he is 34. Despite his age he managed 35 goals and 16 assists this season. Considering that Remy and Falcao are out, this highly experienced star would be the perfect transfer. He will come free of charge as his deal with PSG expires in June. He has never played in the Premier League and is determined to prove he can be great in any competition. He is motivated, fit and efficient. He would represent the perfect competition for Costa and the perfect solution for Chelsea’s new manager, regardless of the playing style he will implement. Opportunities like these should not be missed.

Another player Chelsea could use is Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos. The German is not doing well in Spain which is very unexpected. The playing style does not suite him well and a change could bring back the player that was indispensable to Bayern and to Germany’s national team. Paired with Matic or Fabregas, Kroos could help Chelsea dominate any adversary and most importantly, would fill the gap once covered by Essien or Lampard. He is the type of box-to-box midfielder that any club would want. If an opportunity would emerge, Abramovich should not think twice.

Last but not least, there’s the matter of replacing John Terry and possibly Ivanovic. Chelsea did sign Miazga and also have Zouma but both lack experience. Zouma is good but the injury he suffered might affect his game in a negative way. With that in mind, Metro suggested that Chelsea should direct their attention towards 24-year-old Kostas Manolas. Roma’s defender is the man to complete either Cahill or Zouma as he has the speed and the control to cover slower center backs. Having him around would solve a lot of problems. He is now valued at around £31.4million.
