Three Important Chelsea Players Currently Out On Loan

Callum Hudson-Odoi

It’s no secret – after two transfer windows of vulgar profligate spending, the playing squad at Chelsea is incredibly bloated.

With several players currently out on loan, when they return in the summer, their ranks will become even more congested. However, some of them could make a difference upon their return.

The players on this list are out on loan across the globe, from Brighton and Hove Albion to Inter Milan in the Serie A.

We’ll be taking a look at a towering centre-forward, a consummate defender and a tricky winger in this list. Can you guess who they are?

Levi Colwill

Levi Colwill, upon his return to Stamford Bridge, may be the best defender that Chelsea have. He’s been excellent for Brighton this season – the Seagulls have upset the odds to qualify for Europe next season.

Brighton have outperformed Chelsea at every end and turn in the current campaign. Colwill, alongside veteran Lewis Dunk, has played a huge role in this.

The Blues have recently let a talented, home-grown central defender, Fikayo Tomori, slip through their fingers. They cannot afford to do so again.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s time at Chelsea has been tumultuous, to say the least. For all his talents, he has often found difficulty in breaking into the Blues’ first team.

An incredibly skilled wide man, Hudson-Odoi looks tailor made for the Premier League. However, as Chelsea’s squad is currently packed to the brim with wingers, it’s difficult to see where he fits in.

Moreover, he has struggled on loan at Bayern Leverkusen this season – after failing to score a single goal, his loan spell was cut short by the German club.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku will perhaps forever remain a controversial figure at Chelsea. When he was re-signed last season, he looked to be a perfect fit – however, he turned out to be one of the flops of the season.

A powerful, pacey striker, his work rate and commitment levels have often been questioned – in the modern Premier League, you cannot give anything less than 100%.

He is set to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2023, but it’s unclear as to where his future lies. Would you like to see him be given another chance?
