Three Changes To Go Down Under Hiddink’s Watch

Hiddink’s arrival was the result of Mourinho’s poor results from the locker room. The Portuguese boss lost control and lost the ability to manage the Blues. Managing a group of star-quality players such as the ones at Stamford Bridge is always going to be difficult. The lack of results tells you why Abramovich broke it off with the Special One.

Even if replacing the manager brought some peace and quiet on the pitch, things are still kind of chaotic in the locker room. Recent rumors say that players like Fabregas and Costa are looking to leave due to all the pressure that has been surrounding them and their poor form. Changes are also expected in other departments. Oscar, Ramires and Matic are also targeted by big clubs and could consider abandoning ship. You cannot blame some of them though. If you lose motivation you go on to a newer challenge and try to reinvent yourself. Let`s take a look at who might leave and who could come to Stamford Bridge to replace those players:

  1. Cesc Fabregas – It would not be a surprise to see him leave. The Spaniard is difficult to please and is difficult to recover if he does not have peace of mind. There are two options when it comes to replacing him. There’s either Marco Veratti or Paul Pogba – If Chelsea will try including Fabregas in a swap deal, any of the two midfielders could come to Stamford Bridge. Also, any of the two would be very welcomed to London considering their quality and attitude towards the game.
  2. Branislav Ivanovic – The Serbian is out of a contract in June and no extension is in sight. In order not to lose him for free, Chelsea could sell. They could even try an exchange with PSG who might be willing to let Gregory Van Der Wiel leave. The Dutchman is a speedy right-back with excellent crossing skills which is exactly what Chelsea need.
  3. Remy/Falcao – The two seemingly have little future at Stamford Bridge. Apparently Chelsea are looking to sign either Edinson Cavani or Jackson Martinez to replace the two. Some speculation from Metro point out that Costa can also be replaced by one of the two.

These are some of the changes that might occur under Hiddink’s watch. It`s either all in and he will be in charge of building a team for Chelsea’s future manager or it`s a transition period in which nothing too major is likely to happen.
