Chelsea have registered an interest in Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen with the German struggling to agree a new contract with the Catalan club, according to reports in Spain.
The Blues are on the lookout for a new number one this summer but while some fans on Twitter feel the 28-year-old would be the perfect addition, others believe he would not be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge:
I’m still suprised we haven’t gone for me until now. This is a no brainer

He’s the one keeper I’d absolutely love to join us. But I don’t believe for a second it would happen

I remember a few months ago there was issues about his contract renewal as he wanted more money than Barca were offering. It’s still not sorted. Tempt him with a big contract package, as he’s 2nd best in the world. It’s worth a try!

When contract talks are involved, it’s usually the agent of the player who is putting stories out there in order to get their client a better deal.
With Chelsea clearly looking for a new keeper, it’s not hard to put two and two together, but we shouldn’t necessarily write off this claim completely.
Barca are having issues internally and ter Stegen may feel that he would be better off elsewhere, especially if he can get a better salary. Even so, the cost of the transfer would probably still be very high, even if he isn’t as expensive as Jan Oblak, with his contract expiring in 2022.
