Chelsea centre-back Wesley Fofana is only expected to be sidelined for up to a month with a knee injury, according to multiple reports.
There were fears that the summer signing had sustained cruciate ligament damage after being taken off during the 3-0 win against AC Milan on Wednesday evening.
However, it is believed that Fofana has suffered a knee sprain, which means there is a chance he could return before the World Cup. Supporters on Twitter are delighted by the news:
This is a massive W

Considering that the 21-year-old left Stamford Bridge on crutches, many had already assumed that the defender had picked up a serious injury, so it is a tremendous relief that he could be back in action pretty soon.
Fofana has had his fair share of bad luck over the past eighteen months. The Frenchman broke his leg when playing in a preseason match with Leicester before the start of last season, so the player will be very happy that he won’t be spending another long spell on the treatment table.
