Chelsea are willing to let Antonio Rudiger leave for Tottenham on loan as long as he signs a contract extension before he makes the switch, according to reports in England.
Manager Frank Lampard is said to have told the German international that he is not part of his first-team plans but the decision to let him leave for a London rival has baffled a number of fans on Twitter:
This doesn't make any sense.

As much as I don't like Rudiger, he can improve if given chances and that is not expected. How many more are we gifting straight to rivals?

Rudiger’s form did drop alarmingly last season but loaning him out to a club who could be challenging for a top-four place does seem unwise, even if the Blues don’t rate the defender that highly.
The situation surrounding the 27-year-old’s future has been rather strange. Lampard has refused to comment on the centre-half in interviews despite the player having not taken part in any game this season.
One report even suggested that Rudiger refused to play against Spurs in the Carabao Cup earlier this week but that claim has not been substantiated.
